the usual route.
a story this time.
heading to class, going home or leaving without much of a plan. a journey brings the route and the people sharing it together, so the ride doesn’t disappear when you park.
step by steptry ending and starting the journey
it starts with the people going.
a journey is the record of a route in naiss. it has a beginning, a route and an end. people travelling together can be part of the same ride. afterwards, that history connects with photos, shared expenses and, when certification requirements are met, sparkies.
step by step
start when you leave
open naiss and start the journey. allow location while using the app so it can record the route. always-on permission is not required to continue a journey you have already started.
bring your fellow riders in
invite the people travelling with you or join the journey already in progress. each person should be part of the ride they are actually taking. a group photo and a recorded route serve different purposes.
finish when you arrive
end the journey when you arrive. naiss stops recording location and keeps the route in your history. if certification tasks are still missing, the app shows what each participant needs to complete.
a closer look
the route continues with your screen locked
a journey you have started can continue recording in the background. you don’t need to keep naiss open for the whole ride. ending the journey also ends location recording for that journey.
the route and the photo belong together
the route records where you went; a naiss shot captures what it felt like. save a moment without treating every photo as a new gps recording. the memory is valuable on its own.
share the ride, then take it from there
a ride can connect to tabs for shared expenses and to sparkies when it meets certification conditions. recording a route does not mean money is available: each part has its own status and requirements.
why do you need my location?
to record the journey route and calculate its distance correctly.
location during a journeywhat if i blocked it?
open your phone settings, find naiss, tap location, and choose "while using the app". then return to naiss and start the journey.
location during a journeyhow do they know i'm riding with them?
because they join the trip from their own phone and confirm they're there. that's the only thing that counts as presence.
do my passengers need the app?my passenger has the app but hasn't verified their identity
that's fine, you lose nothing. their share and your half go on hold and unlock when they verify, as long as its batch hasn't already been sent to the ministry.
do my passengers need the app?how do i find people to ride with?
you say what trip you're making, or your usual routine, and naiss shows you who's going the same way at the same time. nothing to search for, it just shows up.
what naiss isdo i have to ride with strangers?
no. you always choose who you join and who you invite. if for now you only want to ride with your friends, that's fine.
